I am pleased and excited to announce that I will be seeking re-election this May, for another three year term on the Board of Library Trustees. We have made great progress over the last three years, but there is still much more to accomplish.
Over the last three years, we have been fortunate to make some major improvements to our library's Information Technology. We have a fantastic new website at www.hullpubliclibrary.org and have added many new reference databases and learning tools. With your library card you can access these tools from anywhere through our website! We also have regularly updated pages on Facebook and Instagram. Over the next three years, I hope to better inform the public about the work that our board accomplishes. I also hope to work on getting our updated policies in place and published and start working towards a new strategic plan.
I hope the voters of Hull will give me one of their two votes for the Board of Library Trustees in the May election. As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to me via email: This email address is being protected from spambots. I am pleased and excited to announce that I will be seeking re-election this May, for another three year term on the Board of Library Trustees. We have made great progress over the last three years, but there is still much more to accomplish.
Over the last three years, we have been fortunate to complete some major improvements to the interior of our library. The Charlotte Laven Student Center, the Reede-Weiser Circulation Desk, and work on the other downstairs rooms have combined to make our public library a more welcoming and useful place for all Hull residents. Over the next three years, I hope to take an active role in improvements to our Children's room and making sure exterior repairs are completed to keep our library standing and safe. The library is also in the process of developing a new website and a bigger social media presence. This is an initiative I strongly support, and hope to see through to the next steps. In my three years on the board so far, I've served as Clerk for a year and Chair for the last two years. Over the next three years, I hope to better inform the public about the work that our board accomplishes.
Later this week I will be headed to Town Hall to pull nomination papers for re-election. Over the next few weeks, I will be around town meeting with voters and collecting signatures to get on the ballot for the May town election. Once on the ballot, I hope the voters of Hull will give me one of their two votes for the Board of Library Trustees in the May election.

Hi, my name is Kevin Loechner and I would like to thank the 622 voters who took a chance on "the new guy" last May. I'd also like to thank the 85 voters who signed my nominating petitions to give me a chance at representing them on the Board of Library Trustees. Finally, I'd like to thank those who helped me collect signatures, talked to their friends, held a sign, gave me advice, made a donation, and most of all my wife for her support and advice throughout this campaign.
Also, congratulations to Frank on his win, and I'd like to thank him for being a kind and gracious opponent. I know that he will keep the best interests of our library at heart over the next two years, and I really enjoyed the discussion we shared at the temple's candidate forum. I also appreciated the nice things he said about me while at the Senior Center event.
This site will stay active. I plan to blog on issues related to our local library, events being held by the library and its affiliated organization, as well as innovative ways we can work towards implementing the 21st Century library platform that I ran on during the campaign. I hope fellow Hullonians and library supporters from all around will drop in to join the conversation. Together we will build a stronger library, a more connected community, and a more vibrant democracy.
My platform consists of the four ingredients I believe to be critical for having a 21st Century Library in our town.
Visibility
Funding
Infrastructure
Your Input! What do YOU want from YOUR library?*
Thank you for your time and consideration and I hope you will consider making me your choice for the two-year library trustee seat on May 21st. The link below is to a blog which has some additional ideas on keeping a free and public library thriving in the 21st century.
Join the discussion to bring a 21st Century Library to Hull!
